It’s official: The Lord of the Rings is getting a television series adaptation, and it looks like Amazon and Warner Bros. Tv are planning something really cool.
According to THR, Amazon has acquired the television rights of the franchise. The agreement includes the participation of Warner’s New Line Cinema and Tolkien Estate as producers of a multiple season project, along with the possibility of additional spinoff series.
Along with this, THR has explained that the tv series will be set in Middle Earth, and it’s set to be a prequel for The Fellowship of the Rings, plenty of new characters.
There’s no further information about this project, but we’ll be expecting it.
