RED, the popular company specialized in producing cinematographic devices, has decided to try its lucky in the world of smartphones.

Through an alliance with Android, the company has announced RED Hydrogen One, the “world’s first holographic media machine”, something that is making us feel really enthusiastic and skeptical at once.

The first thing to say is that there’s actually no many information. Wath we know so far is that this smartphone will have a 5.7-inch “professional holographic display”, along with a 2D regular screen, to do all the basics of any Android device. So, there’s no need to get too excited and imagine something like a direct interface via hologram. But, something like Lei in Star Wars: A New Hope is a certain possibility.

Other details revealed include that the smartphone will have modularity, with “future attachments for shooting higher quality motion”, something like we already saw in Moto Z.

The phone will be available in 2018, and is set to cost $1,595 in Titanium and $1,195 in Aluminium -tax and shipping are not included-. You can pre-order it on the site now.
